10 Reasons to Love Tel Aviv Right Now
Forbes | 20/01/2020
When I visited Tel Aviv three years ago, people proudly told me that the city has the highest number of vegans per capita in the world. I didn’t get that statistic this time, but I saw plenty of evidence to support it. There is no better city for the “vegan-curious,” and one of the best places to sample it is Meshek Barzilay, a forward-thinking joint that got its start in 2002, long before organic and farm-to-table became fashionable. Next door, the Delicatessen is a new, healthful fast-casual or grab-and-go concept in the city.

Auf kulinarischer Entdeckungstour durch Tel Aviv
Stern | 30/03/2019

Healthy fast-casual eateries are booming in Tel Aviv
Jerusalem Post | 09/11/2018
Meshek Barzilay has long been a popular organic, vegetarian and vegan bistro in Neveh Tzedek. But more recently, owner Merav Barzilay opened a deli and gourmet shop next door. For this rustic-chic spot she was inspired by Whole Foods, meaning you’ll fnd a mix of fresh produce, packaged goods from local purveyors and a hot/ cold prepared-food bar where patrons can build their own meals. There are also baked goods, shakes and there’s local beer on tap, all of which you can enjoy to go, at a communal dining table or on their back patio.

Top tips to celebrate a vegan Shavuot
Jewish Chronicle | 09/05/2018
Merav Barzilay, owner of organic, vegetarian and vegan restaurant, Meshek Barzilay in Tel Aviv doesn’t believe Shavuot should be all about the dairy. "To me, the dairy-rich celebration for Shavuot is almost a misinterpretation of the holiday's meaning. Shavuot is about agriculture, abundance, new beginnings. We celebrate our farmers, crops, and the newest "crop" of children born that year.”
